DOTS: Z8 Edition!

I went out for some ice cream with a friend today (hooray 85*F weather in January) and found this BMW Z8 parked right next to the Manhattan Beach Creamery. It's a pretty wealthy area so it's not unusual to see expensive cars, but I've never seen a Z8 around there (or anywhere, really).

Thoroughly elated, my friend and I elected to walk down to the pier and soak up some sun.

Greetings from sunny Manhattan Beach, CA! What's winter?

Unfortunately, it was gone when we were walking back to my car. So instead of a profile shot, I'll leave you with a picture of my ice cream:

This whole post makes me hate my midwestern life even more. I need to get to CA yesterday. Also...I have yet to see a Z8 with my own eyes, despite having been at more than my fair share of ALMS races where you always see lots of expensive metal (carbon?). Nice snag.

I'm an architect, and the largest construction firm in my area does a lot of work with my firm. So, I end up over at their headquarters pretty often for meetings and such. The owner (who obviously has some cash to burn) drives either his deep blue 750iL or his matching deep blue Z8 Alpina, which he parks right by the front entrance... Let me tell you, that Alpina is a sweet little nugget.

Agreed...those are beautiful cars. I'd love to see one as well.
